National issues were on the forefront of many voters minds entering the municipal building and Littleton School in Parsippany Tuesday morning despite simmering issues surrounding the board of education.
Wearing a bumper sticker supporting Gov. Mitt Romney and U.S. Representative Paul Ryan on the back of his jean jacket, Lou Gambetta said on his way to the polling station at the municipal building that President Barack Obama term had proved ineffective due to "massive national debt" and unemployment.
"It's time to take out the garbage," Gambetta said.
Gambetta later said he was asked to take off the bumper sticker. State law prohibits electioneering within 100 feet of polling stations.
However, Charise Steiff and her family showed up at the same polls with concerns about the U.S. Supreme Court, not just the presidency.
"It's my duty to vote," Stieff said. "The presidential election is important, but it's whoever the president picks for the Supreme Court that's going to have a longer impact.All Kinds of Garmin Cycling Jerseys.
Kevin Bakalian said he was disappointed by the last four years of Obama's term and also by the township's efforts to communicate polling changes. Bakalian said he only learned of the change in his voting district when he picked up permits at the municipal office on Monday.
"If the mayor was running, that'd be one less vote for him too," Bakalian said.

However, Weiner added that he was in favor of shaking up the current board of education due to the ongoing controversy surround the superintendent's salary.
Within the township, a debate has raged over a board decision to award Superintendent LeRoy Seitz a contract worth $225,064 in 2010, in excess of a Christie-backed cap on superintendent pay. Barbara, a voter at the municipal building who declined to provide her full name, said she voted for Obama over concerns for women's rights but was less engaged with local politics.
"You know, I forgot who I even voted for," she said. "I just kept pressing buttons."
However, Bernard Barls said he'd take a broom to the entire set of incumbents from the president of the United States to the local school board.
"I want to see some changes across the board," Barls said. "I'd take out all the incumbents and clean house."
In Parsippany, incumbents Frank Calabria and Frank Neglia are seeking reelection along with newcomer Alison Cogan against James Carifi and Anthony DeIntinis, who have the support of local conservative groups, and Joanne Mancuso — no relation to current board member Anthony Mancuso. Additionally, Republican Judy Tiedemann is seeking the one-year unexpired term on the township council against Democratic challenger Jonathan Nelson.
